As for me and my house


Father, I thank you.  I thank you that your light shines from generation to generation and that your promises are fulfilled for your chosen people that desire to do your work here on earth, in spite of our human condition.  Lord you're good, and your mercies endure forever. Thank you for the presence of your loving hand on our family. Thank you that you chose us to rise above the mundane and the folly and be the light that seeks out the good in people and justice in the world.  Thank you for the responsibility that comes with bearing the cross and waring your name as a badge of honor. I thank you for the favor that comes with the unshakeable faith that is ingrained in us, even from the beginning of time. You are a holy and magnificent God.  An awesome ruler and gentle redeemer. You alone are great and worthy to be praised and it is an honor to be considered your children. We are your sons and daughters and in turn, we are kings and queens. Help us to live up to that standard and show ourselves approved daily.  What's crooked make straight Lord God and where we lack, bless us with abundance. Thank you for your angels that encamp around us and protect us. Thank you for your many blessings. Praise you for placing a hedge of protection around us even through the toughest of times. You are such a personal God.  I thank you that we can call on you and you hear us. Hear our cries, oh God, for justice in this world, for peace and joy and loving kindness. Show yourself strong in and through us Lord God. As a family we come together to make the declaration of your greatness, power and authority. Help us to be bold and willing to serve.  Help us to remain humble while also being mindful of our needs and health. Bless us with what we need so that we may only want for you, Lord. Your name is holy, your name is righteous. Thank you for your willingness to love. You are the great I am. I am confident in what has been tested and remains true, and that is the word of God.  Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Let your word be etched into our hearts so that the truth about who you say we are pours out into our words and deeds. Help us to overcome stress and bondage and to make ourselves available in a healthy sustainable way. Help us to be observant and present. Help us to forgive so that we may also accept forgiveness.  Bless your name forever and ever Lord God. In the precious name of Jesus I pray all these things.

I Vow an Ego Crushing Vow

Humility does not mean thinking less of yourself, it means thinking of yourself less - Ken Blanchard. Jess and I had a conversation last night about assumptions and expectations. I can't remember how the conversation began, but she concluded that we both drive each other crazy and I shared with her my frustration with her assuming that I am incompetent and other things I cannot remember. Alcohol. One thing that we agreed on is that the things that get in the way are tiny little things. They are inconsequential, forgettable. Ego! The ego is at work in us! I did a quick search "how to deal with ego in marriage" and the top hits were articles on how ego destroys marriage, how ego is coming from a place of deficit as an individual, a need to be right. I think that the "wanting to be right" part is more me, while Jess is more "give me what I want". The bottom line is that the central figure is me, myself, and I. Not a good basis for relationship.

"Follow Me" Crazy Horse Summons Jesus Christ

Listening to an audiobook by Joseph Marshall III, a Native American in story and upbringing. He tells stories of Crazy Horse and his relations that are reminiscent of Jesus. I'd like to share a few of those stories one being about a man who follows the path alone and finds a path of self-discovery found himself in the end but not the beginning. He, in his isolation, was observant about his surroundings; he became the best at knowing the land knowing the ways that you can find shelter. And peace. There came a time when the warriors were away and this man had to be relied on to get the women and the elders to shelter. from that time on he became known as the man who knows the land.
