A Reflection With No Beginning

Image
Intro Minus Reflection From time to time, there must be an update in focus; the lens we use for the world and where we are zooming in and out. And when. To aid in remembering these shifts, I usually have some “Framing Mantras”. The last time I did this work (and it stuck) was for the 2016 WCHS Graduating Class speech . It was supposed to be for them, but I think it ended up meaning more to me. These 5 mantras guided me through the decade fairly well. But, it’s time to dust off the effort; even though these mantras will continue to guide me, probably for the rest of my life, some must be added. I need a fresh visit to how I’m doing life (ie. rules of life) The principle reason that I need to update my rules of life is that the ones posited above were note written for me. They ended up being useful for me, and I shared them as lessons learned by me, yet they were not oriented toward me. This effort differs because it centers in my self; it follows how well I know myself (recall: “k...

Unearth Buried Treasure

Image
Reflection Sometimes I think too big and it puts me in a delusional state. I imagine myself to be more than I am, or capable of more that I can do. I consider leaps I am not ready to make. This is not bad in reflection, but it is poisonous if allowed to reside in my person. These days I am conditioning myself for the habitudes of life, to ready myself for any of the warranted leaps that may ensue. Prayer Heavenly Father, help me to return to my place everyday, and may I find You there. The largesse of that Gift will enable me for any issue. Yet we carry this treasure in earthen vessels. 2 Cor 4:7 A Humble Prayer My God! Through vessel weak and frail, Wherein  thy  treasure hides, I beg thy light, through darkened veil, reveal my worth inside, And when dark hours with me abide, And I, alone, can't see help me perceive  thy  treasure's light, Thou hiddest deep in me! https://4brosblog.com/2015/09/20/treasure-in-earthen-vessels/

Be Faithful in Small Things

Image
Jeremy Taylor: “Love to be concealed, and little esteemed: be content to want [lack] praise, never be troubled when thou art slighted or undervalued….” I get so angry when I feel insult. Hypocrisy is also a burner. Am I not secure enough in myself to be ok with these everyday occurrences? So what if someone is insulting because they feel superior? Or if they are hypocritical because they feel that character is a fool's game? Are those not there choices? Sure, they impact me. They put me at odds with the offender, and potentially relegate me to a lower rung with those around me, should they believe the charges. But are those things true? Do I prove their truth by acting in retaliation? Lord, it is so hard to not retaliate, further, to bless rather than curse. It is inhuman. Help me today to do in the "marketplace" of real life to live by faith according to the inner man. Let me walk in step with the Spirit and learn Your rhythms, Your everyday, moment by moment oppor...
